Leadership

As we face the challenges of our changing world, many people are searching for avenues to make a difference - to play a part in transforming our families, communities, and the greater world in which we live. Our team has joined together onto a path of leadership that could support a better life for the world. We have the passion, skill and drive to lead Amazing Controls well into the 21st Century: Here is a summary of the executive team:

Raj Marya – CEO Raj has been a pioneer in the estate and commercial automation industry for more than a decade. At Amazing Controls, a provider technology for smart, green buildings, he was VP of Worldwide Sales, where he led the sales effort for the company and based on his accomplishments, was later promoted to CEO which is his role today. He began his sales career at Lucent Technologies where he rose to become the number one sales person in the region. After the spin out of Avaya, he was recruited to run the Northern California sales effort for the new company. Raj earned his Bachelors of Science from UC Riverside and current lives in Silicon Valley, California.

Roger Sanford – CMO A career corporate strategist with 20 years as a marketing leadership executive, Roger is known as “The Blue Bottle Guy” for his work on re-branding Skyy Vodka. A visionary leader with the force of personality to succeed in any highly competitive market, Roger has actively created highly recognized consumer brands. He also has a reputation for creating unique methodologies for customer satisfaction and retention. As CEO of P3M, Silicon Valley’s fastest growing advertising agency, Roger grew the company from start-up to $100 million in value before selling control in 1999.

Roger is a world-class strategist and brand builder with a proven track record of success including brands such as AT&T, Borland, Centura, Epson, Ford, IBM, Nokia and Kodak, Lycos, mbrane, Mercedes-Benz, Nokia, PeopleSoft, Pinnacle, Siemens, UPS, Volvo and others. Roger created and produced The Difference, a documentary film about filmmakers. It premiered at Sundance Film Festival and is on the independent film festival circuit now. Roger is also a Dean’s Executive Santa Clara University’s Leavey School of Business.

Roger is a result-oriented practitioner, having created an early index for marketing ROI based on sales. Roger has developed on-line proprietary solutions to deal with the quicksilver speed of change in business marketing. He personally facilitates VisionTrek™, a process to create a solid shared internal vision for Global 1000 companies, start-ups and newly merged entities.

Michael Silver – VP of Deployment and User Experience For seven years, Michael was a development manager at Apple Computer, overseeing three groups concurrently. During his tenure at Apple, he wrote and published a programming book; wrote the telecommunications code that sent the first e-mail from space and supported the astronauts during that mission; and re-architected America Online to support other languages, cultures, and writing systems. In addition, he co-designed the telecommunications language used by AOL, Apple, CompuServe, GE, and others; and he designed the Unicode compression algorithm used by Apple and AOL. Michael also designed the user interfaces for several Apple products, wrote a suite of online content publishing tools, and was the technical editor for numerous publications.

Since then, Michael has co-founded three technology companies and founded six other successful businesses. He has authored a number of patents. For his work with NASA on several projects, Michael was made an honorary Air Force Captain.

Michael, an EMT, served as the Executive Director of a Bay Area non-profit organization that teaches emergency medicine. He has also taught classes for the American Red Cross, guest lectured for the EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) program at Foothill College, and worked as a volunteer in the EMS (Emergency Medical Services) system. He is a volunteer crew member at the Catalina Hyperbaric Chamber. His past volunteer work includes the Santa Cruz SPCA and molecular biology research at Stanford University. He is a Divemaster who specializes in both dive-related medicine (as a certified DMT) and underwater photography.

Michael studied music for five years at UC Santa Cruz and later graduated as valedictorian from St. Mary's College of Moraga with a degree in business management. He has worked as a composer, arranger, musician, musical director, and teacher. He has also been a disc jockey for a large classical music station (KBOQ), worked for PG&E doing home inspections and audits, and taught mathematics at a junior college. His longstanding involvement with classical music and his dedication to cinema are well-known, and, as a result, for the past eleven years he has owned and operated a high-end audio and home theater business in Mountain View, CA, where he lives with his wife and daughter.

Stuart Newton – VP of Worldwide Sales Stuart’s expertise is in the execution of business strategy. He has more than 25 years of sales, sales management and channel management experience. As an employee, partner and consultant, Stuart has a successful track record of accelerating revenue for emerging, growth and public companies. His experience is in serving Enterprise Software, Professional Services, Wireless, Telecommunication and Technology companies such as Centura Software, Matchmaker.com, Namezero, as well as engagements with Latham Watkins, Pillsbury Winthrop, Nextel, Sequoia-Backed Actona, and Cornish and Carey Investment Services to name a few.

In 1999, Stuart was Vice President of Business Development for MP3.com and prior to that, his background includes extensive experience with wireless network operators, ATT Wireless and Metricom; wireless software applications provider, Notable Technologies and wireless distribution company, Net Wireless, where he established a wireless voice and data consulting practice targeting Fortune 1000 clients.. Mr. Newton has been responsible for closing more than $50 million in revenue for his clients and employers. He has a BA in Marketing from California State University at San Diego and lives in with his wife and two daughters in Pacifica, California.
